Kanji Encounter ยท Last updated 10 September 2026
Kanji Encounter has no server. It does not ask you to create an account, and it does not collect your name, your email address, or any other information that identifies you.
What stays on your device
Everything you do in the app โ which kanji you have learned, your review schedule, your progress through the conversations, and your settings โ is stored in a database on your device and nowhere else. It is never uploaded. If you use the app on a second device, it starts over, because there is nothing to sync.
What happens when you subscribe
Subscriptions are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, which manages the subscription on our behalf. When you buy or restore a subscription:
- Apple processes the payment. We never see your payment details.
- RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous identifier, the fact of the purchase, and basic device and country information so it can tell the app whether your subscription is active. Its handling of that data is described in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
This identifier is not linked to your Apple ID, your name, or your email address, and we cannot use it to identify you.
What the app does not do
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party trackers.
- No selling or sharing of data, because there is no data to sell.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. To cancel a subscription, use Settings on your iPhone or iPad; cancellation is handled by Apple.
